As I progressed through the music curriculum at Tech and participated in school and church choirs, I began to consider my career after graduation. At that time the prospect of public school music teacher did not appeal to me, so I considered other options. I thoroughly enjoyed singing in the BSU choir and the church choir, plus we were singing some sacred music at school. This led me to think about becoming a church musician. That would mean studying at Seminary, which also appealed to me. I spent a good bit of time praying about whether the Lord was calling me into full-time Christian service. My sister Gerry was the BSU director at Southeastern Louisiana College in Hammond, La, so i made plans to visit her and get her advice before making a decision. So I hitchhiked to Hammond and spent the weekend with her. We spent time in prayer about my future, and I came away with a definite understanding that the Lord was indeed calling me into full-time Christian service. I hitch-hiked back to Ruston, confident that I was on the right path by preparing to serve the Lord through music. completed my first year at Tech and traveled back to Ft Worth to look for a new job.
