I was born into a caring family that loved music. Although my birth and early years were spent in the wilds of Arkansas, my heritage can be traced back to my grandfather, Rev. T.J. Lites, who migrated from Georgia through Arkansas and Texas to Louisiana. Though I never met him, Rev. Lites left detailed ministry records, so I learned his story vicariously. I was blessed with a dozen aunts and uncles and a grandmother who loved to recount family stories. My own family consisted of my wife Nannette, who gave me a son and a daughter to love and help raise to adulthood.
